The Pacific coast of Panama has a particular quality of light in the late afternoon, golden, horizontal, and completely unforgiving of anything that isn't real. It catches what is genuine and ignores what is performed.

Nicole and Charlie chose Buenaventura for exactly that reason. Their wedding was the kind that moves at its own pace, guests at ease, a couple who had stopped worrying about the photographs and started living the day. By the time the music came on and the dancing began, the cameras were simply along for the ride.
